KETELEER GALLERY was founded in 2012 by Kathy de Nève, Wilfried Keteleer and their son Frederick Keteleer. The gallery exhibits a selection of international artists representing three generations. Established artists, mid-career artists who are about to have their international breakthrough and young artists who invigorate the gallery and the art world.
The gallery is located in the city’s centre in the theatre area. The 600 sqm exhibition space is a former auction house which was completely restored by architect Vincent van Duysen into a contemporary artspace which automatically draws all the attention to the works of art. The strong indoor/outdoor connection enables the sculpture garden to become an integral part of the gallery. This historical space allows us to show contemporary art in a way that gives every exhibition a museum-like character.
NEXT DOOR |
Since 2017 the gallery has taken on a new space adjacent to the current location. It’s a dynamic space aspiring to reach a very diverse audience through it’s eclectic programming. NEXT DOOR is a place that shows young talents alongside well-established names. It’s the place where, since 2018, the TALKS series is recorded, an artist-conversation-platform which is free to the audience and lives on online in the interest of (re)vivifying the debat with our worldwide followers.
Every year in November and December the space turns into the BOOKSHOP at NEXT DOOR, offering the latest art books, magazines and editions of our artists.
The Annexe space is a place that was furbished into a artist-in-residence space. It is located in the back of our sculpture garden and supports the gallery’s continuing aspiration to become a place for creation both in town and beyond. It offers the unique possibility to artists to create art outside the comfort zone of their own studio, in the location where it is to be shown and thus provides new impulses and inspiration to the creative proces.
