Village
and Sacrifice
In this work, th elandscape becomes cultural territory. Architecture, ritual and festivity organize the scene, yet are destablized by he presence of a reclining female body that introduces sacrifice and fragility.
The composition draws on Northern Renaissance narrative painting, where multiple scenes coexist within a single filed. However continuity is interrupted by signs of tension: the storm, the eagle, and the coexistence of different temporal registers.
The work reflects on the precariousness of social order and the presistence of myth and violence within collective life.
