John Kørner at Oluf Høst Museum, Gudhjem (DK)

Oluf Høst Museum presents Apple Opal, a solo exhibition by John Kørner. The exhibition includes two new works – a large painting and a dynamic installation.
The painting Opalsøen (2025) presents us with an idyllic Bornholm motif featuring a lake and cliffs. But the idyll stands in stark contrast to the rain of apples falling from a fiery orange sky. The painting is accompanied by a water and pigment installation, creating formations of water and pigment on a yellow PVC fabric. As the water dries, new movements are created in the pigment, resulting in a picturesque landscape, the outcome of which depends on the air temperature in the studio.

The exhibition's expression will thus change over time pointing to how the landscapes around us are changing politically and geographically over time.

The exhibition will be on view until 18 October 2025.
