Fuglsang Kunstmuseum, Guldborgsund (DK) presents Laguna Lolland, a solo exhibition by John Kørner.
In his new paintings, the internationally acclaimed artist celebrates the region where he spent his childhood.
The artist grew up in Onsevig in western Lolland, where his parents ran an inn. In summer, the area around the swimming pool was filled with life and cheerful guests, and in Kørner’s memory, the atmosphere was almost Mediterranean.
With this exhibition, Kørner presents the landscapes that have shaped him and that still live on within him. He has consciously sought to create a counter-image to the simplified and bleak portrayal of Lolland that dominates the media today. Instead, sunshine and light fill the landscapes with beauty and magic. The title Laguna Lolland adds an extra touch of the fantastical to the exhibition.
In Laguna Lolland, the artist paints a portrait of the region surrounding the museum—a place that has also shaped him. He does not depict it as somewhere belonging to the past, but as a landscape with a bright future, endless horizons, and new possibilities.
The exhibition will be on view until 2 October 2026 - 11 April 2027.
