– One World
EXHIBITION: 28.06 – 31.08.2014
A bridge – the quintessential symbol for connecting people and unify differences. A bridge between man and art. Between art and culture. A bridge for the future. With People of Tomorrow Arne Quinze, and his team, present the first One World project. A spatial installation which will be permanently installed at recreation park De Schorre in Boom, Belgium. The ‘skin’ of the bridge is made out of wood. One World can be interpreted as a gigantic bench in which everyone can carve their name. A special website was made were anyone in the world could enter their personal message to have it eternalised on the bridge, like a tag. This way Quinze doesn’t merely expresses his own dream, but humanises the whole project. Never before have so many people contributed to one work of art.
The sculpture in the middle of the bridge was inspired by the Nike of Samotrace, a sculpture of the Hellenistic period, representing freedom’s victory. the bridge aims to unite all nationalities and all kinds of people to show that we are all equal.
